22 December – Welcome to Christmas in Nusfjord

For guests wishing to explore the winter coastline from the water, our instructor Eduardo offers a refreshing morning kayak outing. Departing at 10:30, this experience makes the very best use of the precious daylight hours and provides a quiet, beautiful perspective on the surrounding fjord.

Northern Lights Tour

Join our guide Beto, for a magical nighttime search for the aurora. We drive out from Nusfjord into serene winter landscapes, enjoying warm drinks from the thermos while we wait for the Northern Lights to dance above us.

23 December – A Taste of Local Christmas Traditions

Midday Experience (12:00)
Walk to the Second Lake – “Grøt with the Nisse”

Join us for one of Nusfjord’s most cherished traditions. We meet outside the Landhandel at 12:00 and walk together up to the Second Lake, where a fire is lit in the outdoor fire bowl. In our backpacks, we carry the Nisse’s favourite meal: warm rice porridge with sugar and cinnamon, along with hot blackcurrant cordial.

Up by the lake, we enjoy a hearty serving of porridge around the fire and set aside a special bowl for the Nisse before strolling back down to the village as a group.
This gentle outing offers a wonderful blend of fresh air, warmth, and festive folklore.

Warm Up & Unwind

For guests who feel the chill after the walk, we recommend a rejuvenating session in the sauna and hot tub, followed by a relaxing massage with our therapist, Alena, for complete comfort.

Northern Lights Tour

As night falls, our guide will once again take guests out in search of the Northern Lights. Wrapped in the winter darkness with warm drinks in hand, we follow the sky and hope for a glimpse of the aurora.

24 December – Christmas Eve in Nusfjord

Christmas Eve is the most treasured day of the season in Norway. It is a time for quiet moments, shared joy, and gathering around good food with the people you hold dear.

A Longer, Gentle Morning

Breakfast is served for an extra hour today, allowing everyone to ease into this special day at a slower pace. During the final hour, all on-duty staff will join our guests in the dining room. For many of our team, loved ones are far away during the holidays, and this shared breakfast gives us all a chance to celebrate together in warmth and companionship.

A Visit to the Landhandel

Throughout the day, we warmly recommend a stop at the Landhandel, where you can enjoy hot gløgg or a rich, comforting hot chocolate with your choice of toppings—perfect for embracing the festive calm of the village.

Afternoon Gathering (17:00)
Pepperkake Decorating with Kathy

Kathy welcomes all guests to the Landhandel for a cosy Christmas gathering. Together we decorate pepperkaker, enjoy tasting them, and let the soft sound of Christmas music fill the room. This is a relaxed and cheerful moment suitable for all ages.

25 December – Simple Joys & Cosy Moments in Nusfjord

Throughout the Christmas days, we encourage our guests to rediscover the simple joys of winter. Borrow a pair of snowshoes or a traditional wooden sled and embrace a touch of childhood playfulness.

Afternoon Cosiness (15:00–17:00)
Knitting by the Fireplace

From 15:00 to 17:00, guests are warmly welcome to the reception for a peaceful knitting session. Kathy will guide anyone who wishes to learn, while the fireplace crackles and soft music plays in the background.

If you prefer simply to sit, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere, you are more than welcome — this space is meant for comfort, conversation, and calm.

26 December – A Day for Exploration & Comfort

Today offers two delightful options for those who wish to explore the winter landscape.

Join our guide for another evening of Northern Lights hunting, or venture out on your own during the day with one of our prepared lunch backpacks.

Each backpack includes a packed lunch, fruit, homemade cookies, and something warm to sit on — everything you need for a peaceful outdoor adventure at your own pace.

Relax & Recover

After a day out in the cold, our therapist Alena is ready to welcome you for a soothing treatment, perfect for easing tired or sore muscles.

Evening Experience (21:00)
Christmas Film Night – Cinema in the “Gulsjåen”

At 20:00, we invite you to our little cinema in the “Gulsjåen” for a festive Christmas film. Please remember to dress warmly — the charm of this space comes with a touch of winter chill. Popcorn is on us.

Begin your day with a private sauna ritual, allowing your body to warm and unwind. For the brave, follow it with a refreshing cold plunge in the sea — a truly invigorating experience that will awaken the senses.

Later in the morning, join Eduardo for a guided kayaking adventure along the winter coastline. Enjoy the serene beauty of Nusfjord from the water, making the most of the daylight hours.

Afternoon Creativity (16:00–18:00)
Lino Cut Art Workshop with Kathy

At 16:00, Kathy welcomes guests over Restaurant Karoline for a creative workshop in lino cutting. Learn how to create your own unique artwork while enjoying a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere. The session continues until 18:00, giving ample time to explore your artistic side.

28 December – Winter Adventures & Favourite Traditions

Rib Boat Adventure (weather permitting)

We recommend booking a morning RIB boat excursion along the stunning Lofoten coast. Experience the crisp winter air, the dramatic scenery, and the thrill of the sea. Please remember to reserve your place in advance.

Kathy is available for those wishing to continue learning or practicing knitting, accompanied by soft music and a warm fire. For those who prefer a quiet moment, simply enjoy the cosy ambience with a drink in hand.

29 December – Snow, Cinema & Friendly Competition

Guided Snowshoe Walk

Join Filippo for a guided snowshoe tour through the beautiful winter landscape of Nusfjord. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the crisp air, quiet trails, and scenic views while getting some gentle exercise. Please make sure to book in advance.

Evening Entertainment (18:00–22:00)
Games Lounge over Restaurant Karoline

From 18:00 to 22:00, all guests are invited to gather in the lounge above Restaurant Karoline for an evening of friendly competition. We’ll provide a collection of our best games, while guests are encouraged to discover the winner within themselves — all accompanied by a delicious drink or two. A perfect way to relax, laugh, and share a memorable evening together.

30 December – History, Comfort & Culinary Delights

Midday Experience (12:00)
Historical Village Walk with Kathy

Join Kathy for a guided historical tour through Nusfjord. Hear captivating stories of how life unfolded here in the old days, from the fishing community to the daily rhythms of the rorbuer. The walk concludes at the Landhandel, where guests are welcomed with a cup of warm cocoa — a perfect treat to savour while taking in the winter atmosphere.

Afternoon Wellness & Relaxation

We warmly recommend a visit with Alena for a rejuvenating treatment, or a relaxing soak in the hot tub followed by the sauna — ideal for unwinding after a morning stroll.

From 16:00, Oriana opens to serve delicious pizzas, offering a cosy, informal opportunity for guests to gather, share stories, and enjoy a hearty meal

31 December – New Year’s Eve Celebration

Daytime Recommendations

Start the day at your own pace. For guests seeking relaxation before the evening festivities, Alena is available for one last soothing massage of the year — the perfect way to refresh both body and mind.

For those wishing to embrace the outdoors, we suggest:

– A peaceful winter walk around Nusfjord to enjoy the quiet beauty of the fjord and village.

– Borrowing a sled or snowshoes for some playful winter fun, embracing a bit of childhood joy before the celebrations begin.

– A visit to the Landhandel for a warming cup of gløgg or hot chocolate to savour the festive atmosphere.

Evening Dining & Entertainment
Choose between two table seatings at Restaurant Karoline: 18:00 or 20:00.

Guests may select either a three- or five-course New Year’s Eve menu, complemented by live music throughout the dinner, creating an elegant and celebratory ambience.

Nighttime Celebration

From 22:00, the dance floor comes alive with DJ Storm, setting the tone for a lively New Year’s party. At 23:55, we gather outside Karoline to watch the fireworks illuminate the sky in a spectacular countdown to the New Year. The celebrations continue into the late hours, filled with music, dancing, and joyous memories.

1 January – New Year’s Day: Relaxation & Creativity

A Gentle Start to the Year

After the celebrations of New Year’s Eve, today is dedicated to rest, reflection, and gentle enjoyment. Take your time to sleep in and enjoy a breakfast served one hour longer than usual, giving you a soft and comfortable start to the first morning of the year. Relax in the serene surroundings of Nusfjord, wander quietly through the village, or simply let the calm of the day settle in.
And for those who wake up craving something savoury after last night’s celebrations, Oriana opens at 13:00 with delicious fresh pizza — the perfect cosy comfort food for New Year’s Day.

Daytime Recommendations

– A calming winter walk through the village or along the fjord.

– Sauna and hot tub sessions for a refreshing and restorative start to the new year.

– Curl up with a book, enjoy a warm drink by the fire, or explore the village at your own pace.
