August In Nusfjord

August in Lofoten is a season of quiet abundance. The long summer days begin to soften, the landscape grows richer in colour, and the village becomes a place to taste, wander, and reconnect with nature.

International Beer Day

Norway has a long brewing tradition, shaped by farms, seasons, and local ingredients. Today, that spirit continues through craft breweries and local producers who bring a distinctly Nordic character to the glass.

On 7 August, we invite you to celebrate International Beer Day by the harbour at Aurora Matbar. Enjoy a local beer, settle into the rhythm of the waterfront, and pair it with one of our Harbour Grill specialties - fire-driven, generous, and made for summer evenings in Nusfjord.

International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend

A long the Lofoten coast, lighthouses have long been symbols of safety, resilience, and connection. For generations, their light has guided fishermen, sailors, and coastal communities through shifting weather, dark seas, and the dramatic waters of the North.

This August, we invite you to discover Nusfjord’s own lighthouse on a peaceful coastal walk from the village. Follow the path towards the sea, breathe in the Arctic air, and take in the view where mountains, harbour, and horizon meet.

A simple walk - and a beautiful reminder of life shaped by the sea.

Wild Berry Season

August is one of the most rewarding times to explore the landscape around Nusfjord. Wild blueberries are at their best, cloudberries may still be found in many areas, and lingonberries begin to ripen towards the end of the month.

Take a quiet foraging walk through the surrounding nature and discover Lofoten’s own natural candy - small, vivid berries shaped by clean air, wild landscapes, and the short intensity of northern summer.

The Beginning of Mushroom Season

As August unfolds, the first edible mushrooms begin to appear in the forests and hillsides, with the season continuing into September. Foraging is an authentic part of Norwegian outdoor life - a way to move slowly through nature, observe the landscape, and discover what the season provides.

In Lofoten, mushrooms such as chanterelles, boletes, and other seasonal varieties may be found depending on weather and conditions. At Restaurant Karoline, this connection to the landscape also finds its way to the table. On selected days, guests can enjoy our wild mushroom soup - a bowl of warm, creamy, and rich comfort inspired by the season.
